The Inspired Life Now Has an Inspired Alley

On Saturday, Inspiration Alley was born. With help from "Alley Gardens" (alleygardens.org) and Barelas Neighborhood Association members (barelas.org) a trashed out, common drug spot, and needle and trash drop off was transformed into an organic, scenic garden in a matter of 2 hours.

Native xeric plants grow next to wildflowers and a huge variety of herbs, chilies, and heirloom tomatoes.

Dirt filled with buried whiskey bottles was replaced with organic compost. Weeds replaced with vegetables.

An area that was a thrown away, derilic and trouble magnent was transformed to a place were community members work together, get to know each other, and can feel a moment of community empowerment.

Power Pasta

I have been eating this recipe I created for quite a while now but only today came up with the title. It is called "power pasta because it is high in the power foods (walnuts, olive oil, tomato, garlic, soy) which are known to be a nice boost to the system. Any how, this is what you do.

put 5 -8 lg garlic cloves and two large handfuls of walnuts into an iron skillet on low. Add small amount of olive oil. cut the cloves to bite size, manageable pieces.

In the microwave put whole grain angel hair pasta in a container with water and mocrowave till cooked (generally about 15 mins).

Take 2 handfuls of dry soy protein (textured vegetable protein) and place in a container. mix 1 oz of liquid smoke with 7 oz of water and add to protein. Sprinkle on spike seasoning. cook in microwave or pan for 3-4 mins.

mix all cooked ingredients together. add 2 cans of tomato sauce and 8 fresh basil leaves

sprinkle an italian cheese mix on top, before serving. Serve with sprouted grain bread with promise brand spread.
